What Is Soft Washing?

Soft Washing is a low-pressure cleaning method that uses water and a cleaning solution to remove dirt, algae, mold, and other buildup from outdoor surfaces. The solution loosens organic growth, while gentle rinsing clears the surface. This method helps clean siding, roofs, gutters, and other areas that strong pressure could damage.

How Soft Washing Works

Soft Washing starts with a cleaning solution applied to the dirty surface. The solution breaks down algae, mold, dirt, and other organic buildup. Gentle water pressure then rinses away the loosened material.

Technicians choose the solution and pressure based on the surface. Painted siding, roof materials, and gutters may need different care. Pressure Washing uses stronger water force for hard surfaces and heavy grime. Soft washing focuses on letting the cleaning solution do more of the work.

On a gutter job, soft washing can clean stains and growth from the outside of the gutter. The method does not replace gutter repairs or remove every type of blockage inside the channel.

From the AGM Gutters team

When we use soft washing, we check the surface before choosing the cleaning solution and water pressure. We protect nearby plants and finish with a careful rinse. Our team also checks gutters for loose parts or damage that cleaning cannot fix.

Soft Washing in Practice: A Real-World Example

A home with dark algae marks on its siding may need soft washing. The cleaning solution loosens the growth, and a gentle rinse clears the marks without strong spray against the siding.
