What Is a Hidden Hanger?

A Hidden Hanger is a concealed gutter bracket that fastens through the back of a gutter into the fascia board or roof edge. The bracket supports the gutter without showing beneath its front lip. Installers commonly use hidden hangers with sectional or seamless gutters when a clean exterior appearance and firm attachment are both needed.

  • Fascia condition affects how securely the bracket can attach.
  • A Hidden Hanger is not the same as a visible gutter spike.

How Hidden Hanger Works

Hidden Hanger hardware supports a gutter from inside the channel. The bracket rests beneath the gutter profile and attaches through the rear wall into the fascia or another suitable structural surface. Because the hardware sits out of view, the gutter front keeps a cleaner line.

During installation, the gutter is positioned to direct runoff toward the downspout. The installer places hangers along the run and checks that each fastener reaches sound material. A concealed hanger cannot correct weak or damaged fascia, so the attachment surface must hold the fastener securely. The gutter shape also needs to match the hanger profile for proper support.

From the AGM Gutters team

When we install seamless gutters, we inspect the fascia before placing each Hidden Hanger. We check that the bracket fits the gutter profile and that the fastener reaches solid material. We also review the gutter line after attachment so the run drains toward the downspout.

Hidden Hanger in Practice: A Real-World Example

A home with a long seamless gutter run may use Hidden Hangers attached through the gutter’s back edge into the fascia. The finished installation keeps the support hardware concealed while the gutter carries roof runoff toward the downspout.
